Neighbors, we need your help! There will be 3 board positions to fill for the 2027 & 2028 calendar year plus 1 at-large vacancy that has 1 year remaining.

Open positions: Treasurer, VP, at Large (1 for a 2-year period and 1 to complete the 1 year left)

Duties of:

President - Gary Ruble thru end of 2027

Serve as principal executive officer & spokesperson

Manage our day-to-day business

Serve as official rep to outside organizations

Preside over business meetings

Appoint the chair & members of our committees

Power to sign board-authorized instruments

Perform all duties incident to the office of president

Vice President - open for 1/2027 thru 12/2028

Preside over meetings when President is absent

Take over if president is unable to continue in role

Coordinate committee activities

Recruit/recommend committee chairs

Perform duties assigned by the president

Secretary -Melissa DeRoiser thru end of 2027

Record minutes of our meetings

Distribute minutes prior to next scheduled meeting

Act as custodian of all records

Perform all duties of meeting notifications, absentee ballots, amended by-laws, record keeping

Treasurer - Sheri Ruble thru end of 2026; open 1/2027-12/2028

Have legal custody of all funds

Receive & provide receipts for monies due & deposits made

Provide a quarterly written report summarizing income, expenses, beginning/ending balance, interest from the income & anticipated income/expenses for the upcoming quarter.

Oral update at each business meeting on overall financial health

Track attendance at business meetings

Officer-at-Large (3) Sarah thru end of 2026; Ned thru end of 2027; Open thru end of 2027

Prepare annual spending goals & budgets for member consideration/approval

Regularly attend & participate in business meetings

Volunteer for committees as available

Perform the board fiduciary role to best of your ability

Listen & be responsive to membership concerns

Please join us this Tuesday at 7:00 PM for a neighborhood meeting at the Baptist Church, located at 28th and College.

Representatives from the city's Department of Metropolitan Development will be present to provide updates on the development plans for "The Bulge"—the 15+ acre open field along the Monon Trail, just north of 25th Street. This is an excellent opportunity to share your thoughts and learn more about how this project will impact the continued growth of the Monon Yard neighborhood.

Additionally, we will share an update regarding the "Music on the Monon" neighborhood event scheduled for Saturday, June 20, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. We hope to see you there.

The Board of Directors convened in January to strategize for the upcoming year, and we are excited to announce our first neighborhood meeting scheduled for February 10th at 7 PM. The meeting will take place at the Missionary Baptist Church, located in our neighborhood at 28th & College.

This meeting is open to all residents, and we warmly encourage you to invite a friend! It’s a great opportunity to learn about what’s happening in our community and to discover upcoming events.

On Tuesday, February 10th, representatives from IMPD provided an update on neighborhood activities. A local builder proposing 4-5 construction projects on MacPherson will also be present to discuss his request for a variance.

Additionally, our neighborhood has been awarded a $1,500 grant to engage our community, and will be using the money for a summer concert on the Monon Trail.

October 2025 Neighborhood meeting

We had an excellent turnout for our October meeting, with over 30 neighbors in attendance to hear the latest updates on the Monon 30 project currently underway between 30th St and Sutherland on the Monon Trail. The townhome foundations have been successfully laid, and the event center is on schedule to break ground in the spring of 2026. Additionally, we are excited to hear about the upcoming addition of pickleball and volleyball courts in the near future.

In addition to the update on growth in our area, we also were updated on plans for our community event "TRUNK OR TREAT" by our Communication Chair, Melissa, which will take place on Oct 31st from 6-8pm in the Triangle (28th & Guildford). Come join in, wear your favorite halloween outfit and bring the little ones for some spooky good fun with your neighbors.

Parking issues

Important Parking Reminder! The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) would like to remind everyone that parking is prohibited on the east side of Guilford Avenue between 25th and 28th Streets, as well as on the west side of Carrollton Avenue between 25th and 28th Streets. They are actively issuing tickets to violators, as parked vehicles on both sides of the narrow streets hinder two-way traffic.

Nominations will be accepted until our meeting in November. All eligible voting members must have their dues paid in full prior to the election, and those wishing to run for a position in our voluntary association must hold a paid membership for the 2026 year.
